Gallery Barbarian Art by Natasha Akhmerova, Zürich, is participating in Volta NY
with "Things Strike Back" by Vladimir Arkhipov
Vladimir Arkhipov works with objets-trouvés having a distinctive difference from all previous ready-mades in art history. The artist insists on their authenticity and originality though they are divested of any connection to the world of art at the moment of their discovery. Arkhipov believes that their makers are fully legitimate artists and that genuine art exists also beyond the professional artistic sphere The on-going project running for 15 years in more than 10 countries has shown that the practice of creating home-made things is a transnational phenomenon and a symptom of the global world. Gallery Barbarian Art and Vladimir Arkhipov will present the Swiss part of the artist's project at Volta NY 2010. Curator: Viktor Misiano The upcoming book "Things Strike Back" is prepared by the Gallery and will include the articles on the project by a leading Russian philosopher Valery Podoroga and renown curator Viktor Misiano.
